Privacy Policy
We, Novantas, Inc. (“Novantas”) know that you care how information about you is used and shared, and we appreciate your expectation that we will use and share your information carefully and sensibly. By using the FindABetterBank service (the “Service”) on our website (the “Web Site”), you agree to accept the terms of this privacy policy (the “Privacy Policy”).
1. Information Collection and Use
1.1 Required Information.
To make full use of the service, you may enter a street address, zip code, your preferences for checking account features and responses to questions about your banking behavior. Whenever we collect such information, you will be aware that you are voluntarily providing this information to us.
1.2 Optional Information.
You have the option to provide us with additional types of information. This information may include demographic information (such as income level and gender), answers to survey questions, and additional financial information.
1.3 Profile.
We store information that we collect through cookies to create a “profile” of your preferences. We do not tie your personally identifiable information to information in your profile.
1.4 Log Files.
As is true of most Web sites, we gather certain information automatically and store it in log files. This information includes your internet protocol (IP) address, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp, and clickstream data. We do not link this automatically-collected data to your personally identifiable information.
1.5 Ownership of Information Collected.
Novantas is the sole owner of all information collected on the Web Site.
1.6 Our Use of Your Information.
You do not need to provide any personally identifiable information to use the service. However, if you provide your contact information, we’ll only use it to contact you about the Service. We use your demographic information and your answers to our survey questions (should you choose to share this information with us), and your profile information to conduct aggregate statistical analysis. We use the information stored in our log files to diagnose problems with the server, administer the Web site, and conduct aggregate statistical analysis.
1.7 Communications from Novantas.
We will communicate with you in response to your inquiries, to inform you of changes in or the status of the Service. We generally communicate with you by email, but in certain situations, we may contact you using any contact information we have about you.
2. Information Sharing and Disclosure
2.1 Aggregate Information (Non-Personally Identifiable Information).
We share your answers to our survey questions (should you choose to share this information with us), your profile, and information that is stored in our log files, in aggregate form only, with third parties. None of the information we share with third parties identifies individual users. We do not link any aggregate user data with personally identifiable information.
2.2 Personally Identifiable Information.
We only disclose personally identifiable information that we collect from you when required to do so by law, court order or other government or law enforcement authority or regulatory agency, or when we believe in good faith that such action is necessary or advisable, including, for example, to protect the rights, property or safety of Novantas, our users or others.
3. Cookies
We use cookies on the Web Site. A cookie is a small text filed that is stored on a user’s computer for record-keeping purposes. We do not link the information we store in cookies to any personally identifiable information. We use both session ID cookies and/or persistent cookies. A session ID cookie expires when you close your browser. We use session cookies to make it easier for you to navigate the Web Site. A persistent cookie remains on your hard drive for an extended period of time. Persistent cookies enable us to track and target the interests of our users to enhance the experience on the Web Site. You can remove persistent cookies by following directions provided to you in your internet browser’s “help” file. If you reject cookies, you may still use the Web Site, but your ability to use some areas of the Web Site may be limited.
4. Clear Gifs (Web Beacons / Web Bugs).
We employ a software technology called clear gifs (a.k.a. Web Beacons / Web Bugs), that help us better manage content on the Web Site by informing us what content is effective. Clear gifs are tiny graphics with a unique identifier, similar in function to cookies, and are used to track the online movements of users of the Web Site. In contrast to cookies, which are stored on a user’s computer hard drive, clear gifs are embedded invisibly on Web pages and are about the size of the period at the end of this sentence. We do not tie the information gathered by clear gifs to your personally identifiable information.
5. Links to Other Sites.
The Web Site may contain links to other sites that are not owned or controlled by Novantas. Please be aware that we are not responsible for the privacy policies of such other sites. This Privacy Policy applies only to information collected by us on the Web Site. We encourage you to be aware when you leave the Web Site and to read the privacy statements of each and every Web site that collects personally identifiable information from you.
6. Business Transitions.
In the event Novantas goes through a business transition, such as a merger, acquisition by another company, or sale of all or a portion of its assets, your personally identifiable information will likely be among the assets transferred. You will be notified via a notice on the Web Site, for a period of thirty (30) days following any such business transition, of any such change in ownership or control of your personally identifiable information.
7. Changes in this Privacy Policy.
We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time. Prior to making any material change to this Privacy Policy, we will notify you by posting a notice on the Web Site for thirty (30) calendar days prior to the implementation of such change, so please check the Web Site frequently.
8. Contact Us.
If you have any concerns, questions or suggestions regarding this Privacy Policy, please contact us at: Novantas, Inc., 485 Lexington Avenue, New York, NY 10017; email: support@findabetterbank.com.
This Privacy Policy is effective as of July 15, 2012.
